Job Description/Responsibilities
 
The Director of Business Intelligence will drive reporting, insights, and self-service into the heart of a growing data-driven culture. The role will focus on the strategy and tactics of developing effective metrics, visualizations and empower clients and business units to answer questions and generate insights through dynamic, self-service dashboards. Secondarily you will lead the development of effective business-supporting data domains and automations to both reduce repetitive manual efforts and increase speed-to-value throughout the operating model.
  • Work closely with business partners to develop the Business Intelligence vision and roadmap, including short- and long-term product strategies and initiatives focused on:
    • A dedicated external portal for clients to provide fast, meaningful insights into the program’s operations and successes
    • The creation of internal data products converting business problems into logic problems that can be solved with data, statistics, dashboards and/or scripting to proliferate a common business focus and data-driven decision making
  • Manage a team focused on the development of external data products in partnership with product management and data engineering
  • Build internal BI and Automation dashboards and resources in partnership with Data & Analytics and Technology Teams
  • Partner with business partners and Technology counterparts to build in-depth knowledge of our business processes & tech stack, to better leverage our current tools and identify key opportunities for improvements
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Data Architecture and Data Engineering to design, develop and leverage data domains and marts aligned to business needs
  • Develop, socialize and adhere to best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation to ensure the team provides quality work to the company and builds trust with solutions
  • Leverage an expert level understanding of the Tableau platform to build and execute on a roadmap to drive best practices into the usage of the platform both internally and externally for effective communication of data-storytelling through visualizations
  • Mentor internal teams in both the art of effective storytelling with visualizations and technical expertise on the Tableau platform.
  • Serve as a SME to support the launch and change process during the release of new data products
  • Drive prioritization across teams to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives in a fast-paced environment
 Skills/Qualifications 
  • Ten (10) years of experience working with data, business intelligence and applied analytics 
  • Eight (8) building and leading effective teams in a data intensive environment
  • Advanced SQL knowledge for Extract, Transform, Load, and Management operations
  • Advanced expertise with the Tableau Platform across the ecosystem from platform to visualizations
  • Solid fundamentals in security basics (IAM, Data Protection, PKI, Network Security), authentication/authorization frameworks (e.g., SSO, SAML, Oauth), secure transport (e.g., SSL, TLS), identity management (e.g., certificates, PKI), and vulnerability management
  • Experience in conceptualizing, building, and managing data products ranging from business intelligence to reporting frameworks to data & workflow automations
  • Independent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, creativity, and a customer service-oriented personality
  • Attention to detail and clear communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Experience working with iterative systems development lifecycle and documentation
